Tété Camille Azankpo was born in Lomé in 1984. He began training as a welder before turning to the visual arts. His first exhibition took place in 1999, a year after he had set up his own studio.
A self-taught artist who is adept at assembling materials and collages, he is an advocate of environmental protection and works mainly with recycled materials, which he disassembles and reassembles. His materials are wood, paper, advertising and glazed pans, which he cuts into pieces, reassembles and welds, creating sculptural and two-dimensional works such as figurative portraits or abstract works.
