An Attie fertility sculpture

An Attie fertility sculpture, Southern Ivory Coast, collected in the village Akoupé., lagoon people, feet on the ground, she is standing with her arms resting by her sides, protruding navel, pointed breasts, rounded shoulders, a long thick cylindric neck which becomes larger at the end, to support a rounded head composed of simple features, a thinly traced mouth, a relief nose and large coffee bean eyes, a smaller forehead, a beautiful hairdo pulled back in a bun, delicate carvings to suggest the texture of the hair, white beads around her waist; ages cracks, insect damage throughout, glossy by use, signs of ritual use.
