A PramPram sculpture

"Another great discovery was the so called "Prampram" sculptures, which are stylistically related to the Northern part of the small tribes in Northern Ghana and Togo, inparticular the Moba. In this video Baba Sylla, Accra, Ghana, isn´t speaking about a "tribe" he named it "a great family", which seems to be incorrect under athropological aspects, but it is a link to the fact, how small this "tribe" is/or was in reality. May be this is the reason that these sculptures are unknown in literature. Only Karl-Heinz Krieg made some years before his death unpublished researches with voice protocolls close to the hut, where these sculptures were once part of a shrine. But he had no possibility of access how a fried of Karl-Heinz Krieg told me.

Two old analogous field photos of an unknown photographer  are showing a bigger number of these sculptures. One part we have collected. The other provenances of these remarkable sculptures on the photos are unknown.

In particular the sculptures "whithout heads". There are existing other headless figures at the Moba, which were offered me on my last tour to Lomé. Also this is an indication, that the sylistically roots of these sculptures were located in the Northern part of Ghana, even the Prampram setteled about 50 km from Ghana close to the sea, a long distance from the North of Ghana. This stylistic assumption was confirmed by Baba Sylla, who spoke about the origin of this "great family" in the Northern part of Ghana centurys ago. But what is labeled 600 or 700 years ago doesn´t mean in Africa the real age. It can be also 100 or 200 years. "
