A large Do N'jelini sculpture, Mali, provenance. collected together with Daba Diara, Segou, standing on a rectangular, rounded base with flattened feet, the trapezoid, tapering legs terminating in prominent buttocks, the slender torso with slightly protruding abdomen and pointed navel, the plank-like chest with enormous conical breasts, the bent arms close to the body, with bandages of traditional medicine on each forearm, an elongated neck suurmounted by an ovoid head, a pointed chin beneath a small mouth on a flattened fascial plane, the elongated, slender nose framed by two metal eyes, a single crested coiffure with the traditional hairstyle of of the ordinary Bamana woman, blackened sacrification and protection patina, which many Bamana statues preserved against insect damages, several agecracks and remanants of sheebutter, collected in the village Sonango, 125 km from Segou on the other side of the river.
