A fragmentary Benin or Ife Bronze head of a high ranked personality, According of the last owner collected in the Lobi Puguli region close to Diebougou, which is probably not the place of it´s real provenance, where it was excavated, But in whole West Africa is at the moment a real "Goldrush", because there are cheap and excellent metal detectors on the market, which are coming fron China. One consequence is the great number of bronzes which are appearing at the market. Only according of stylistic analysis it is possible to estimate the age and real provenance. It is possible that there are remnants of the casting core in the head or the left arm, which could be the base of a Thermoluminisence-Analysis.
Even the sculpture is extremly fragmentary, it could be a good example of the ancient Nigerian culture of Benin or Ife. We like to offer this piece to a Museum or a Sponsor, who promises to make a donation to a public institution.
