A Bamana Maternity

A Bamana Maternity, seated on a one-leg stool, holding its child close to the abdomen, the elongated pigtails are verifying a high-ranking woman like the wife of the "chief de village" or the "warlord", wearing a cap in the traditional manner of the Bamana women until the early 1920th. Nowadays these headdresses don't exist anymore. Provenance: Daba Diarra, Segou.
