Description

An Ibeji from the Oyo in Iwo, the base is round and grooved all around, between two parallel lines, there is a carved pattern of vertical stripes that lie next to each other like scales, the feet are huge but the legs are very short, the back is decorated with vertical and three zigzag lines and curved horizontal lines which follow the backside of the arms down to big hands, the genitalia are strongly emphasized, the navel is protruding, on the belly are three more zigzag lines, the chest is normally emphasized, on a strong neck sits a big head with bulging elliptical eyes which are bordered all around, the mouth is mall but has full lips and is as wide as the nose, the ears sit very low, nearly on the jaw, towards the back of the head, with the lobes not pierced and they have a particular shape, the hairstyle is high and peaked; dark brown patina, insect damage on the backside of the base, the right heel and the backside of the hairstyle. Rarity grade: rare.
