A slender female Baule sculpture with significant traces of sacrifications over a blackened, partly encrusted patina.
In this lecture, Dirk Junker has addressed a dilemma that accompanies us at every step when we hold an object in our hands that has previously been on a long journey through various stages of mutation. “Do not be sad ..” he tells the irritated collector, and so Junker leads us through a terrifying documentation of objects “before and after”. The lecture is in German. but the image material that is shown can basically be understood by everyone, even if he or she does not understand the German language. However, it is not primarily about the condition that an object once had in Africa, but about the “original condition” (when an object arrived in Europe).
