Description

A Senufo statue couple from the village Kamono in the region of Dikodougou, seated on four-legged stools, with small feet and short legs, the female has a child on her lap which is sucking on one of the conical breasts, the male holds a pointed object in his right hand, both sculptures have a slender torso, bracelets around the upper arms, a fascial plane with a pointed chin, a small pointed mouth, a long nose and bulging heavy lidded and closed eyes, scarification marks on the face and on the body, a notched back line, both have a single crested coiffure; natural brownish patina, remains of black dots, traces of age and ritual use, several cracks on each sculpture.
