Description

A Senufo female figure, Ivory Coast, seated on a four-legged circular stool,short thin legs ending in prominent buttocks, a sloping torso with cross-shaped scarifications at the center and sagging breasts, rounded shoulders, bent arms, an elongated neck supporting a forward-projecting head with fine fascial features, a block-shaped mouth beneath an elongated slender nose framed by bulging almond-shaped eyes, a sloping forehead, surmounted by a striated domed coiffure framed by two bent pigtails, the figure displays scarification marks on the breasts and on the back and wears several bracelets; reddish patina with traces of age and ritual use, several cracks.
