A male Baule sculpture of the Bouaflé region, not far from Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, based on a circular plinth, seated on a two-leg stool, the slender torso covered with scarification marks, the slightly hanging breast gives the figure a hermaphroditic characterwhat is common among many statues of West Africa and the Sahel zone, if we think about the male figures of the Dogon, the neck thick and also tattooed supporting a large oval head with a goatee, fine facial features and a crescent-shaped hairdo; shiny, blackened patina, remnants of oxidized oil for protection purpose.
