A female Senufo Rhythm Pounder – called Déblé – Ivory Coast, region of Korhogo, village Sinematialé, standing on a cylindrical base, the feetless legs slightly bent, the abstract elongated torso is decorated with linear scarification marks around the navel, on the breasts, back and arms, rounded shoulders, each of the long upper arms and each wrist is surrounded by a carved bangle, the hands are resting on the hips showing the stylized vulva, on the long and slender neck sits an oval head with an Iroquois-like coiffure on the top and curls on the sides, the opened mouth shows the clenched teeth, the nose is long and round at the tip, the incised eyes are wide open, the fascial plane with its fine stylized features shows a high degree of abstraction; heavy hard wood, shiny parts especially at the arms and neck where the statue was held.
