A female Baule sculpture, from the region Tiébissou, Ivory Coast, posted on a base with carved band decorations, sitting on a two legged stool, the strong legs ending in prominent buttocks, a slender torso with a pointed navel and firm breasts, the torso is decorated with many square geometric motifs on the front and the backside, rounded shoulders leading to bent arms carved close to the body, the hands holding a vessel, a notched back line, an elongated cylindrical neck, a small mouth beneath a nose with a broad tip, almond-shaped eyes, scarification marks on the temples, a striated crested coiffure; a long age crack on the front, one on the head anda few small ones around the base, reddish encrusted sacrification patina, traces of age and ritual use.
